FREELANCE WRITER/EDITOR (November 2003 – Present)

  • Ghostwriter of nonfiction, business, memoir and self-improvement books, including two Warner business books
  • Developmental and line editor for a wide range of books and publications
  • Writer of non-fiction articles for various print and online lifestyle and business publications
  • Copywriter of print, broadcast media, websites, newsletters, brochures,

MANAGING EDITOR, edible Reno-Tahoe Magazine (September 2012 – Present)

  • Work with publishers to develop editorial calender and plan issue content, including fielding queries from publicists, advertisers, writers, and community.
  • Responsible for assigning stories and photography to freelancers, consulting with sources, editing story submissions in accordance with style guide, and proofing content in design phase.
  • Maintain catalog of story ideas and developing contributor’s guidelines.
  • As managing editor of COOKS!, a special annual publication published each fall, since inaugural issue in 2011, develop story ideas, oversee freelance writing assignments, schedule and assign all photography, work with publishers and manufacturers to secure content, product information, and high-res photography, and proof issue in design phase.

PROJECT MANAGER – Lucky Bat Books, Reno, Nevada (October 2011- Present)

  • Oversee publication process of book projects, from conceptualization through writing, editing, formatting, layout, print-on-demand, and e-book publishing. Includes hiring and oversight of subcontractors; meeting milestone deadlines; formatting, conversion, and publication of ebooks; serving as communications liaison between subcontractors, authors, publishers, and vendors; and ensuring that final products are in line with the wishes of authors/clients.

LEAD FACULTY AREA CHAIR – University of Phoenix, Northern Nevada (September 2010-Present)

  • Oversee faculty activities in Humanities for local campus, including leading meetings, conducting
    faculty quality assurance reviews, participating in new faculty assessments, working directly with
    campus chairs and college administrators.
  • Spearhead campus-wide writing initiative to bolster writing lab attendance, strengthen class papers, identify areas for improvement, and improve writing skills among students attending UOP.
